Friday Five - December 21

Welcome to the December 21st edition of The Friday Five. Here are five of my favorites from around the web. Enjoy!

1. An Exploding Box

I love this crafty idea. It's called, "An Exploding Box." I want to show you two photos so that you can see what it's all about. Isn't it cute? Find the complete tutorial at: Glitter Adventure

2. Twas The Night Before Christmas

This poem has been circling the internet for the past week in remembrance of the Sandy Hook tragedy. I'm not one who would normally post a Dr. Phil video, so it might seem out of character for me. But the words of the poem are so beautifully presented here that it's definitely worth sharing.

3. Christmas Garland

I hope I'm not too late to share this with you! I love the natural look of this garland, and it looks simple enough to make! Check out Anyone Can Decorate

4. Curtain Rod Hanging Frames

I LOVE this idea for hanging pictures. I saw it over at Better Than Life. Click the image to see another variation. Clever!

5. DIY Newspaper Gift Bag

This is such a cute little bag, and how timely with Christmas only a few days away. If you're short on last-minute gift wrap, or you're just a crafty kind of girl who loves to upcycle, then this one is for you! Check out the tutorial at: Yours Truly, G

Friday Five - November 2nd

It's Friday! Time for five of my favorites from around the web... Click the images to go to the site.

1. Jar of Encouragement

This is a great idea from "All Things Moms." If you're looking to make your husband a little gift, why not take a page from this blogger's husband and create a jar of encouragement?

2. "I am thankful for..." Thanksgiving Printables

Don't you just love these printables from Silverbox Creative Studios? It makes for an easy and pretty little project.

3. Setting up a Quiet Time Routine and Praying the Scriptures When Your Husband is Overwhelmed

I introduced you to Kathi Lipp earlier this week, and just after that she mentioned to me that she had a couple of free downloads for you. So I thought I'd wait and share them today in the Friday Five. Better late than never, right?

4. Give Thanks Banner

Another free printable, but so timely with Thanksgiving around the corner! Visit About.com

5. Avoiding the Pitfalls of a Broken Friendship

No one can hurt us as deeply as someone we've let past the armor and protection we live behind. Jealousy, gossip, abandonment are all possible when we engage in relationships beyond “how are you?”

Having said that, what’s the alternative? Read the rest at "Praise and Coffee."

Friday Five - September 20th

It's Friday, which means that it's time for a "Friday Five!" So here we go, five of my favorites from around the web:

1. Some of the Best Marriage Advice I've Ever Received
Are you ready for a full-bodied post? This one is awesome! Not only does Angela include great advice backed by scripture, she also provides Bible study resources at the bottom.

I realize that it's part of a Bible study series she has, but this post can definitely stand alone.
Visit Good Morning Girls - be inspired!

I've recently spent a little time getting to know Lisa from "Club 31 Women," and I can't tell you how much I love this girl! She is faith-focused, joy-filled, in love with her husband, and mom to eight kids. I started poking around her blog and decided that I would share one of her posts with you, "Faithful to You.
If you like her blog, you can also find her on facebook: click here
3. Finding Balance Series - The Better Mom
The Better Mom has a series running on finding balance in your life. Since I know that this is an issue with a lot of busy moms I thought it was a great one to share.
Check out the link or click on the image to find a series of posts!
4. A Must-See Marriage Video (Grab a tissue!)

Merrill lost his wife two years ago, and he recently made this video that will uplift, inspire, and bring you to tears. He is an amazing man and finds strength in God.

5. Upcycle an Old Clock
I wish I had the original source for this clock, because the artist did an awesome job, but unfortunately I can't find it. All I know is that it's so beautiful and such a creative idea. I'm so tempted to take on this project--yesterday!
Since I don't have a link to a tutorial, all I can say is grab and old clock and get creative! Isn't it pretty?

Have a great weekend!

Friday Five - August 30th

It's time for this week's "Friday Five," and here are five of my favorites from around the web!

1. Mary Margaret tells the Story of Jonah

I came across this video a couple of years ago. But this week I was reminded of it when I saw an episode of "The American Bible Challenge." I hope that you have a minute to watch it, because she's adorable!!

2. Teach Your Child Scripture With a Bible Verse Puzzle!

The Purposeful Mom shares an easy and fun way to learn the verse of the week.

3. Finding God’s Boundaries for Friendships

This post from Grace for Moms is such a great read that I had to share it! I love the heart of the message, and I think you will too!!

4. 40 Breakfast Casseroles - Wow!

To be honest with you, I don't remember ever making a casserole for breakfast. I don't think it's ever even crossed my mind since we've just gotten used to the same things year after year. But when I came across this post from "Under the Table and Dreaming" offering 40 recipes I got excited about making some!

It was actually written as a Christmas post, but I just came across it today. Love it!

5. It is Well With My Soul

I've heard the song before and I've read this heart-wrenching story. When I saw the two of them put together I knew it was something I had to share.

Friday Five August 11th

It's time for "Friday Five" and here are a few of my favorites from around the web!

1. Turn Hand-Written Recipes into Tea Towels

When I came across this tutorial my jaw dropped. Then my mind started racing with all of the possibilities: Recipes! Bible Verses! Love Letters! The ideas are endless. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't know this was possible until now.

Visit Spoonflower for details on these babies!

2. Upcycle Old Books - Dishfunctional Designs

Before you toss out any of those old novels, check out this post where you'll find everything from birdhouses to bathtubs, all created by upcycling books! Don't you just love that word "upcycle?" It's my new favorite!

3. I Choose to Fight {Candace Cameron Bure}

Candace Cameron Bure is over at The Better Mom sharing a transparent post about parenting.

Candace writes:

I am failing my family.
Sounds dramatic and it is. There is no catch. NO secondary line to soften it up and make light of it.
I am failing my children.
Read the rest of the post at TheBetterMom.com

4. Cute Overload!

Did you know that otters hold hands when they sleep so that they don't float away from their mate? My  son told me that the entire family holds hands which is even more adorable if you think about it!

5. How to Display Your Bookshelves - Cupcakes and Cashmere

Bookshelves can be a work of art when we know the right way to display items. Little tips like grouping objects or adding an interesting item can go a long way in making a drab bookshelf stand out.

Pop in at Cupcakes and Cashmere where you'll glean a few tips and tricks of the trade!

Friday Five - June 15th

It's time for the Friday Five! Here are my favorites from around the web...

1. Frozen Reese's Peanut Butter Pie - Dashing Dish

This cake was just to incredible not to share it with you! Every thing about it says, delicious!!

And isn't it nice when you don't have to turn the oven on in the summer?

I've seen some menu boards before, and I've thought about making one for my family, but this menu board really caught my eye. It's so creative! I think that my kids would love this as much as me!

Most women who may be tempted by this sort of erotica (and I have to admit that I do understand the temptation) would not want their husbands watching porn. We think this is somehow different, because we’re just “reading stories”, we’re not watching two people do something. We’re not objectifying anyone.

But you’re still doing harm. Sex is supposed to be something that joins two people together in love, and that enhances a relationship. Read the rest at "To Love Honor and Vacuum..."

Christian Marriage Advice

An affordable and creative way to display family photos!

For all the pictures you have and no frames to put them in. So neat!

This looks easy, timely, and affordable. I like that! It says "The Word's Best Father" on one side and on the flip side is a photo. Great idea!

Friday Five - June 1st

It's time for the Friday Five, and here are five of my favorites from around the web:

1.This is Lennon 12 and Maisy 8 singing their version of Jason Mraz's I Won't Give Up. These girls are truly amazing. The Stella sisters :) When I saw their talent, I knew it was something that I had to share!

2. $2.99 or Less - 299orLess.net

I hope you don't mind if I share a link of my own? I just opened a second website called $2.99 or Less that offers affordable Christian eBooks. I thought it would be a great place to showcase authors while offering readers a great deal. All eBooks are $2.99 or less, and I'll be adding as many freebies as I can!

5. Raspberry-Coconut Popsicles

With real fruit accompanied by naturally sweet coconut milk and honey, this is a homemade treat you can feel great about serving your kids. Or yourself. And you don't need popsicle molds to make them either, since these ones are made in dixie cups. Brilliant!

Friday Five! May 25th

It's a new week, and here are five of my favorites from around the web:

1. Knot No-Hem Shorts - Crafty Critique

Add some style to Bermuda shorts with Crafty Critique's Knot-No Hem tutorial. I love how cute these are!

These are SO EASY to make. Right after posting the blog I grabbed a pair of Madison's jeans and I was done in 30 minutes from start to finish.

I started having this strange feeling that something wasn’t right. I had my husband’s password to his account (because we trust each other and wanted to be accountable) on Facebook. So about 11:30am during the weekday(with a strong feeling), I logged on his account and looked at his messages. What I didn’t realize was he was chatting with her right then! I stopped breathing for a second, I felt my whole world spin out of control. Read more...

3. Mini Cherry Pies - How Adorable are These?

After taking a look at these mini cherry pies, my mind started to wander... apple pie, pumpkin pie, coconut cream pie... the possibilities are endless. I definitely want to try making mini coconut cream!

Visit What You Giveaway You Keep for a recipe and tutorial on these babies!

4. Father's Day Cookies - Somewhat Simple

Somewhat Simple offers a few creative ideas for making Father's Day Cookies. So cute!

5. Humbling the Grumbling - Cross Moms

I am realizing that when I do clean up the house and cook dinner, etc… and I don’t receive the “praises,” I tend to exude a tit-for-tat attitude, and I take on a selfish tone when someone asks me to do something for them. I then justify my response by thinking that I’m not going to raise any lazy children who won’t do for themselves! If they’re not going to help me—huh! I’m not going to help them.

But here is where the frying pan recently whacked me over the head: Read more...

I like easy, especially when easy is spelled a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!

Tonya Staab offers and easy and creative way to dress up and old pair of jeans.

3. Tapestry of the Mundane - Where Do you Get Your Beauty Tips?

Friday Five - & a Giveaway from Blessings Unlimited!

Here are a few of my favorites from around the web. Enjoy!

1. Blessings Unlimited

A few weeks ago, Marci Ferrell introduced me to the online store of "Blessings Unlimited." Immediately I was drawn to the "Grace & Gratitude" apron--isn't it adorable? The message, "A grateful soul is truly blessed," is scrolled just underneath the waistband. I love it! And guess what? She's sending me one!

Marci has also offered to give one of my readers an item from the store valued up to fifty dollars. If you'd like to enter the draw, see details below the image. And don't forget to click on the image as well to browse the store. I absolutely love the items they carry, and if you love decor that brings the message of faith into your home, you will love it too!

Visit Blessings Unlimited by Marci on Facebook.

If you have kids, this post is a must read! How a mom spent her birthday doing 35 random acts of kindness with her two children. So cute!

4. Keepin' it Real

One of the things I like most about this blogger is that she's real. She's always faith-focused and at the same time she makes me laugh--constantly with her snarky remarks. Gina says, "I believe that is how God has led me to share. I am not a teacher. God is. I am a Child of God who desires to talk about and live life with others."

5. Organizing Your Master Bathroom - Good Housekeeping

When I think of "bathroom" I always think of cleaning, but rarely do I get in there and organize. For the most part it's probably because I never had any good ideas--until now. Good housekeeping offers five creative tips to getting the bathroom into ship shape.

P.S. When you get there, check out the use of the paper clip holder--too cute!
